Over the last two afternoons, we have hosted the level two citywide Quadkids events. On Wednesday 12 schools competed in the Year 3/4 competition and 10 school this afternoon in the Year 5/6 event.
Our children were brilliant and gave their all. What was most impressive was the enthusiasm and ability to improve their scores from one attempt to the next. Although we will have to wait to find out the winners and qualifiers for the regional finals I am so impressed with the effort and attitude they all displayed. They are all winners!
Enjoy the pics!
After another day of excellent competition, Cragside children again returned with wonderful achievements! All twenty boys and girls performed to their best and represented the school well on both the track and in the field. There were some memorable performances against the best athletes from across Newcastle, Sunderland, Gateshead, North and South Tyneside. Overall the Year 3 and 4 team finished 2nd whilst the 5 and 6’s came fourth. There were individual medals for Ella and Alexander in the younger age group and James in the older section (all three getting bronze medals). At some point in the next few days you should be able to find the results at http://www.quadkids.org/Tyne%20and%20Wear
This week we have competed in two athletics events for Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 boys and girls. They each do a standing long jump, howler throw, sprint and distance run and the results are converted into points. The two top points scoring teams go on to represent Newcastle at the Regional Finals next month. On Tuesday the Year 3/4 team won the event out of twelve schools participating!! They scored 1300 points beating Ravenswood into second place by some thirty odd points. Alfie G was the top performing boy in the whole competition (which is about 60 boys) and Jimmy C was third! In the girls team, Ella P finished second overall. That said all ten children contributed to the final points score and did a fantastic job!
With a tough act to follow the Year 5/6 team proved themselves finishing second to Gosforth Central Middle School. It was close with GCMS scoring 1591 and Cragside 1561. Again there were some phenomenal scores by all the children and in particular James D and Jamie R-E who finished second and third overall!
Well done to you all! It was amazing to watch!
Having reached the regional finals to compete against ten other top teams from Sunderland, Gateshead, North and South Shields, our Quadkids didn’t disappoint and finished an AMAZING second! Once again we were pipped to the post by Benton Park who performed outstandingly well.
Well done to all the children and thanks to Mrs Hayles and the supporters who went along!!

A great performance by our Year 3 and 4 boys and girls last week saw them finish in silver medal position and qualify for the stage three regional finals in the Quadkids event. The thirteen schools had to complete four events (50m sprint, 400m race, howler throw and standing long jump) with the results being converted into points. We ended up with a total of 1377pts just nine behind the winners, Benton Park and over one hundred ahead of Hotspur in bronze. All the children performed extremely well and we had the gold and silver individual points scorers for the boys (James D with 215pts and Jamie R-E with 211pts!!).
